The CRTC (Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission), Canada's national broadcasting regulator has given Calgary-based Shaw Communications the "Green light" on acquiring Hamilton, Ontario-based Mountain CableVision.

This marked a milestone since the 2000 swap between the assets of Rogers in the west and the former Shaw assets in the east. Shaw's competitor, Rogers had filed a lawsuit back in September 2009 complaining that the purchase of Mountain CableVision violates the agreement that was set back in the early 2000s. The courts later quashed the lawsuit and Shaw was given the "Go-Ahead" on buying Mountain CableVision.
