U.S. FCC sets Oct. 7 hearing on telecoms industry
(old news - 08:34PM Friday Sep 27 2002)

I feel the access fees/leases/UNE-P and other items to help bring the competition need to be re-evaluated. The cost of leasing is much lower than investing in equipment/facilities, that is exactly what is happening and the ILEC's are forced to provide access as less than it cost them. And they still have to maintain their "last mile". The cost of leasing lines should be brought more in line with the real costs to the provider of those lines.
