A tech-savvy White Plains woman whose apartment was burglarized solved the crime herself after she was able to log on to her stolen laptop, photograph one of the suspects with it and get photos of another, police said.

Apple plans to officially say "ni hao" to China with its first retail store opening later this year. ifoAppleStore detailed the location of the new store over the weekend (found through AppleInsider), which will be on Qianmen Street near the famed Tiananmen Square. The area is apparently undergoing a $40 million renovation, although apparently it will be restored to its 1920s appearance. "According to architecture sources, Apple’s store will blend in with the Chinese architecture rather than use its standard storefront designs," wrote ifoAppleStore.

What the study shows, among other things, is that, in its first full quarter of sales, Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone outsold all the smartphones in the North American market except for RIM’s (RIMM) Blackberry. That puts it ahead of the entire field of devices running Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Mobile, Linux or Palm OS.
