Belkin has rolled out its Laptop Cooling Hub and Cooling Pad in India.

The vendor’s laptop cooling pad is designed in such a way that it can not only be used on a table or a desk, but also while sitting, as it comes with a cooling fan that keeps the heat off one’s legs. The pads are ergonomically designed to provide ease of typing and reduce wrist strain. It also comes with grips pads to prevent the laptop from slipping.

Talking to Expresso on the sidelines of the dealer meet and product launching function of Belkin here on Saturday night, Belkin Asia Pacific Limited, country manager - India, Mohit Anand said that the formal announcement regarding the launch of service centres would be announced later.

A new modem router, which can bring high-speed networking into homes, has been unveiled by electronics firm Belkin.

The N1 Vision Modem Router follows on from the N1 Vision Router which was launched at the end of last year and builds on its success by incorporating an integrated ADSL modem.

By using 802.11n* 3x3 multiple input multiple output technology, the modem can deliver increased speed, reliability and coverage to wireless systems, allowing music and video to be streamed with ease and connections of up to 300Mbps on home networks.

In addition, a host of security features gives a network a degree of protection from hackers and malware, while a built-in interactive display allows the network's speed and bandwidth usage to be easily checked.

Belkin Launches ADSL2+ Wireless Modem Router

Based on the draft 802.11n specification, the new N1 Modem-Router from Belkin is ADSL2+ enabled, letting you distribute large files through your network in a breeze, the company says.

The Modem-Router will allow wireless speeds of up to 270Mbps, Belkin claims, though the company advises you to use the device with the Belkin N1 Notebook and Desktop Cards connecting your client computers. (Though the company said it has tested for interoperability with other vendor products)

Belkin Issues USB Cable for Vista Adapters

Belkin wants to make your transition to Windows Vista as seamless and easy as possible, but they're going about it in a slightly different way with this "Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista." It seems that if you want to upgrade to the new operating system, this USB cable isn't all that useful unless you have two computers, one of which should still be running XP.

Why? Because it is designed to "copy all the programs and files form [an] XP-based PC to [a] Vista-based PC with just a single cable." This includes all of your personalized settings regarding internet connectivity and security, desktop layout, and so on.

Belkin has launched a new USB cable that whilst not the most exciting thing in the world comes with a piece of softare that allows you to transfer files, photos, music and settings from your old PC to a new Vista computer easily.

Called the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista (F5U258) users simply need to connect the cable to both computers via the USB ports, and run the built-in Windows Easy Transfer Wizard.

The entertainment electronics developer has announced that its Cable-Free USB Hub will go on sale in mid-December, with a price tag of $US200.

Belkin, Microsoft settle patent suit

Microsoft said Friday it has settled a lawsuit with Belkin after the peripherals maker agreed to license one of the software maker's technologies.

The Redmond, Wash.-based software giant sued Belkin in August, saying the company had refused to license Microsoft's U2 technology, which allows keyboard and mice to detect what type of connection is needed.

"We are pleased to announce that we have settled our dispute with Belkin and that they will be taking a license to use the U2 patents," Deputy General Counsel Tom Burt said in a statement provided to CNET News.com. Microsoft did not provide terms of the settlement.
